Remote Identification  or in short Remote ID, adds “beacon” capability to drones where it broadcasts basic information of airborne drones, such as current position, purpose and operator. Basically, it is a wireless number plate for drones! Remote ID is mandatory in the EU since 1 January 2024 and in the USA since 16 March 2024, for most drones of 250 grams or more. Technically Remote ID is called Direct Remote ID (DRI) in the EU and Broadcast Remote ID in the USA. The beacon information can be used by general public, law enforcement and drones to give better situation awareness of the airspace around them.

Remote ID products for drones

We offer (direct/broadcast) Remote ID transponders and receivers. DroneBeacon is an add-on (transponder) for drones which broadcasts Remote ID beacon signals. We also provide a MAVLink/DroneCAN version for direct integration into a drone. DroneScout is a professional receiver that detects Remote ID signals of nearby drones up to several km distance.

Blue UAS approved Remote ID

Building drones for US government or defense customers? Our db300 is, as of October 2026, the only Standard Remote ID module on the U.S. DoD Blue UAS Framework. It's NDAA compliant, works with ArduPilot and PX4, and comes with help for your FAA Declaration of Compliance. Blue UAS Remote ID for drone manufacturers

Technology

Remote ID is a technology that transmits key data – such as operator, target and current position – of a flying drone via Bluetooth or WiFi beacons. Consumers can receive this information through an app on their smartphone. In addition, this information is interesting for enforcement, airports, but also for other drones to gain better insight into the local airspace. In Europe, Remote ID is defined in standard ASD-STAN EN 4709-002, and in the USA in ASTM F3411.

DJI Aeroscope

A flight radar for drones can be built with the DroneScout receiver. The product is therefore comparable to the Chinese DJI Aeroscope system, which DJI stopped selling in 2023. Since 2017, DJI drones have been broadcasting a proprietary beacon with the same kind of information. These signals can only be received by the DJI Aeroscope system. DroneScout offers several advantages: cheaper, can receive all brands of drones with Remote ID and uses international standards.
