BlueMark introduces MAVLink Remote ID transponder for drones

Remote Identification or Remote ID for short is a wireless license plate to identify drones. This technology will soon become mandatory in the EU for most drones more than 250 grams (EU legislation 2019/945). In June 2022 BlueMark Innovations BV introduced several Remote ID products: DroneBeacon, a Remote ID transponder and DroneScout, a professional receiver. Today, DroneBeacon MAVLink transponder is introduced: a Remote ID long-range transponder that can be controlled via MAVLink messages and can be integrated into drone products. It is designed for drone manufacturers / system integrators. DroneBeacon MAVLink can be attached to a medium or large (consumer) drone. It is compliant with the (upcoming) standards in the EU and USA. Furthermore, the transponder is optimized for long range due to its transmit power and antenna design. It also supports all transmission protocols for maximum flexibility.

Technology
Remote ID is a technology that transmits key data -such as operator, target and current position- of a flying drone via Bluetooth or WiFi beacons. Consumers can receive this information through a smartphone app. In addition, this information is interesting for law enforcement, airports, but also for other drones to gain better insight into the local airspace. In Europe, Remote ID is defined in standard ASD-STAN prEN 4709-002.
