blue UAS standard Remote ID db300 module launched
Today, we have launched the blue UAS db300 standard Remote ID module for autopilot systems, such as ArduPilot or PX4. It is a drop-in replacement for the db201 module.
Remote Identification or Remote ID /DRI is a wireless license plate to identify drones using WiFi or Bluetooth packets and is mandatory in several regions like, Japan, the USA and the EU. It is expected that more regions will adopt this technology as well. New drones for the US market (FAA) need to have a so-called standard RemoteID solution. The db300 is a standard RemoteID transmitter module.
Blue UAS
The US Department of Defense/War has developed additional drone requirements called the Blue UAS program. This program targets drones for government use, ensuring they meet strict security and operational standards. The db300 complies with the Blue UAS requirements. It is Blue UAS ready. For RemoteID, blue UAS basically means that both the module and radio chip cannot be produced in China.
Specifications
The db300 module is powered by proprietary firmware that has similar behavior as the open source ArduRemoteID firmware. It also have a certified FCC/CE radio module (u-blox(Nordic)). In addition, the db300 has two DroneCAN ports and an UART (TELEM) port to connect to a autopilot system using JST-GH connectors. It is small, only 27.5 by 27.5 mm, and weighs just 2.5 grams.
